Cabinet juxtaposes the domestic space as a site for female disappearance with the performative vanishing and dismemberment of the female body within magical vanishing acts. Through a displacement of the trappings of illusion cabinets, often brightly coloured and abstract, for a piece of domestic wooden furniture the space of the home becomes evocative of labour, violence, claustrophobia, surreality and disappearance.
